Integrity is doing the right thing, even if nobody is watching."  While both Jim Stovall and C.S. Lewis are often associated with variations of this quote, it's important to note that the core meaning and sentiment remain consistent. Someone else might ask, “Doing the right thing, even if nobody is watching is a great credo. But integrity? What ever happened to this definition of integrity?” "Doing what you said you were going to do, when you said you would do it, the way you promised you would do it." Our common purpose as professional engineers is to safeguard life, health, and property and to promote the public welfare. Professional ethics concerns the standard of professional conduct and responsibility required of a professional engineer.  Our seminar discussion typically addresses issues like character, competency, accountability, trust, integrity, conflicts of interest, and avoiding deceptive acts. Additionally, this seminar will explore the growing role of AI and its implications. As Engineers, we must remember that the ‘A’ in AI stands for artificial. While AI can be a powerful and useful tool, it’s ultimately a mimicry of human behavior—not a replacement for it. The responsibility to make and act on ethical decisions still rests firmly with us, as professional human beings.
